Changing the Serial Port
Note: This fix only applies to Freeze-Framer versions 2.0.5 and higher.
First go the Start menu in lower-left hand corner, right-click on My Computer and then select Properties from the contextual menu. This should bring up the System Properties window. Click on the Hardware tab at the top and then click on the Device Manager button located in the middle of the next screen. After the Device Manager window comes up, click on the plus sign next to the device category labeled Ports (COM & LPT) to expand the list of ports. In that list you should see a device titled "ATEN USB to Serial Cable (COM3)" or something similar. If it has a different number in the parenthesis next to COM, that's ok, just make note of what COM port it's on. Close the Device Manager and then click the Cancel button in the System Properties window to get back to your desktop.
Open the Freeze-Framer and click on the Options button which should be the third button from the bottom on the Home Screen. Once the Options window is open, click on the Pulse Sensor tab at the top. On the right side of the window you should see a drop-down box labeled Start Search At Port which should be set to AUTO. Click once on the drop-down box and change it from AUTO to COM3 or whichever COM port your ATEN USB to Serial Cable device was set to in the device manager. Click Ok and then follow the instructions that come up to restart the Freeze-Framer application to apply the change.
